The Trust are delighted to announce that the frost covers which were purchased by the Dale Trust earlier this year have now arrived. The covers, which cost the Trust almost £7,000, are double skin and will offer added protection to the Spotland pitch during the winter months.
Dale Trust Chairman, David Gartside, commented: “The Trust worked very hard to secure the best pitch covers for the football club. We sought advice from the Dale groundstaff and other clubs, as well as visiting numerous manufacturers before making a final decision on which covers to buy.
“Based on that advice we believe that we have chosen pitch covers which are not only best value for money, but ones which will also assist the ground staff in their efforts to prevent games falling foul of the weather.
“I would like to thank the club and the ground staff for their input.”
The Trust have also assisted the club in purchasing safety netting which has been erected in front of the Pearl Street Stand. This is to help protect supporters from any stray balls which may make their way into the stand while opposition goalkeepers are being put their pre-match warm up routine.
Dale Chief Executive, Colin Garlick, added: “We are very grateful to the Trust and its members for what is a big contribution.
“The frost covers will help us in the fight to keep games on, while the safety netting will obviously benefit the supporters in the Pearl Street Stand.
“I would like to thank the Trust and its members for their assistance with these two projects.”
