Saturday’s Exiles event was a resounding success and not only because our remarkable unbeaten home run was preserved.
Many regulars and some newcomers were among the thirty exiles from far and wide who enjoyed a grand day out at the Crown Oil Arena. Trust directors Scott Goulding, Ian Wright and Murray Knight made sure everything ran smoothly and a big thanks goes to Simon Gauge for taking the group around the stadium and being so welcoming.
Willie Burns as our guest gave an entertaining Q&A and was generous with his time with exiles as he relived memories of playing for the Dale thirty years ago. The game itself might not live long in the memory but young fans Freddie Brockerton-Baker and Freya Hollows will take away memories of presenting George Broadbent with his man of the match award.
Rob Higgins won the raffle – a signed centenary shirt donated by the club – and he tells that his grandson will be the lucky recipient.
