A Tribute for Our Final Home Game of the Season
As we welcome supporters to our final scheduled home game of the season, emotions are running high, not just for the end of another campaign, but for a moment far more personal and poignant.
Today, we continue to pay special tribute to our number 15, Joey Thompson, whose memory and impact on the club remain as strong as ever.
Joey’s passion, determination, and unwavering commitment to the team and local community set an example to all, both on and off the pitch.
He was so much more than a player; he was part of our family, “One of Our Own”.
A Legacy Remembered: Joey Thompson
Joey joined us with a heart full of fight and quickly earned the respect of teammates, coaches, and fans alike. His dedication was evident not only in matches, but also in the time he gave back to the community and younger players. We saw this on numerous occasions when he visited local schools to give lots of powerful talks and coaching sessions.
And we can’t forget his goal against Charlton can we! He saved us from relegation.
That was only one of Joey’s many memorable moments.
His journey, through triumphs and adversity, stands as a testament to his resilience and courage.
The Trust’s Tribute
A floral tribute has been laid outside the main stand in Joey’s honour. As the Supporters’ Trust, we have joined together with the club and shown our respect.
All supporters are welcome to view and reflect on the flowers, messages, and memorabilia left in his memory. The Trust has received an outpouring of condolence messages from across the football community, a reflection of the wide-reaching impact Joe had.
