DALE LEGENDS BACK AT THE DALE FOR HOSPITALITY
Hospitality Guest speakers organised by the Trust Board Director Keith Hicks (who by the way runs the successful Former Players Association) have seen two Dale legends entertain the Clubs hospitality diners before our last two home games, with additional duties of picking the winners for the 50/50 half time draw.
Mark Hilditch spoke of his two spells at Spotland Stadium as it was then, from 1977-83 followed by 1990-92, where according to Wikipedia he made 213 appearances scoring 42 goals.
Watch a fascinating YouTube interview with Mark taken from only a couple of years ago when Mark was interviewed by Martin Culshaw before a previous Hospitality occasion.
Steve Whitehall also gave us some memorable stories of his time at the Dale, making 235 appearances, and scoring 74 goals, though this is seriously disputed by Steve, who made it known he scored far more than that (Wikipedia again)
You can read an in-depth interview dated 2008 where Steve he lets you in on the inside knowledge from his time in football and more importantly the DALE, read it HERE
The Q&A for both lads was conducted expertly by David Dockerty taking over from Martin Culshaw, who is currently recovering from illness, get well soon Martin!!!!!
Future games will see two more former players who are lined up for the Braintree United game(Scott Warner) and at the Southend United game we see the return of Gareth Griffiths
It will be good to see these two “Young uns” back at Spotland
