But before we show you that programme the Trust are pleased to welcome avid Dale fan and Dale programme collector Iain Chrimes to our fore. Ian has become the Trust’s official archivist for all things written and printed. He brings to us his special website which features so many of Dales’s home and away programmes, and, in many instances all the programmes from various clubs we have played against. We asked Iain to put something together so we could bring you more details, and provide links to the website for members and fans alike to peruse.

Iain says “The aim of me setting the site up was to provide both Dale & none Dale Supporters the chance to view images from days gone by and recall any memories they may have from that game or season. I doubt we have any fans who saw the Chester V Dale game in 1911 though!
Having supported Dale since the mid-70s I have probably seen around 2000 games both home and away and used to sell programmes in the early 80s when they were the cheaper paper ones and probably the worst ones the club produced. Since then, they have come on leaps and bounds and credit must go to all the programme Editors and contributors.

3) Covers-Depicts a Seasons Cover design
The war years, 1939 1945, Yes Dale played games, football was not off the menu, the programme below is from 1943, two days after Christmas, 27th December 1943, I bet most wished we had Boltons number 9!

Iain said “There are numerous other Sections featuring Cup Matches, Promotion Seasons, Friendlies etc: with more to come at a future point. There is also a small For Sale section where Supporters can purchase Dale programmes for a small cost, of which a percentage will go to the Trust.
As a Trust we are keen to see this project become complete, it will represent a huge resource for all fans and a unique piece of archive material.

Iain has asked us to stress its not just first team game programmes but any game which features a Dale side (Reserves, Youth, cup games etc) and especially any away programmes.
Appreciating that many Dale fans are collectors and may not want to part with their , programmes Iain has said that if we could borrow any needed, then we can scan them which would be fine, in the mean time if any one has programmes they do not want then they can be handed to the Trust desk at any home game, or if needed we can collect.
We will publish updates in our newsletters and website as interesting items are added.
