We have another goalscoring hero from the 80’s for the Curry Night with Steve Taylor signed up for the event.
Super Stevie Taylor will be joining Lyndon Simmonds on the top table for our Curry Night that will be taking place on Thursday 6th April.
Signed from Stockport in late 1984, he was an immediate success with 12 goals before the end of that season. However, it was the following season where he flourished scoring 25 league goals and a further six in the Cup – a tally that has not been beaten since which given some of the strikers we have had during that time is some feat and he is the last Rochdale player to win the divisional golden boot.
He was part of the team that took on Man United in the FA Cup after his goals in the earlier rounds against Darlington and Scunthorpe took us through to the third round.
Unfortunately, his goalscoring feats attracted the attend of other clubs and Preston paid for his services leaving Dale facing a relegation battle. His departure proved to be a temporary one as he returned for a second spell in 1989, marking his comeback with an equaliser against Hereford at a very wet Spotland.
Tickets will be going on sale on Thursday at 6pm.
