Richard O’Donnell will be the second Dale player to be sponsored by the Trust for the 2022-23 season.
Historically, the second player that we have sponsored has been the player who was voted as the Community Player of the Year in the previous season. Last year that was Matt Done who has since left the club. However, upon signing Richard O’Donnell, it was noted how many Bradford supporters had commented on his community work which made him an ideal candidate.
Again, as part of the shirt sponsorship, the Trust will receive Richard’s shirt and a match hospitality package which will be used as prizes throughout the season.
We have also read of the work of young Archie O’Donnell, Richard’s son. The 8 year old has committed to run 3km every day throughout July hoping to raise £6,500 for the family of Rio Spurr who has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. The Trust has made a small donation towards this outstanding young man’s fundraising.
Archie has already achieved his fundraising target in the last few days but is continuing on with his efforts.
