Dale supporters will have seen the news that came from the Club on Wednesday stating that they were facing charges as part of the EFL’s investigation into the acquisition of shares in the Club last Summer.
You can read that statement in full on the Club’s Official website at https://www.rochdaleafc.co.uk/news/2022/march/statement_16.03.22/
As a Trust, we very much welcomed the news that the EFL’s investigation into the share acquisition has come to a conclusion and has resulted in charges for a number of individuals following sufficient evidence from that investigation.
We have remained in contact with the EFL throughout their investigation and we wrote to them on Monday for an update.
We are contacting them this evening for further details regarding the charges from their investigation and the identities of those amongst the “number of individuals” who are facing EFL charges. Furthermore, we have asked them about timescales, possible penalties and the nature of all of the charges. We will update Trust members upon the receipt of any reply from the EFL.
It goes without saying that the Trust is not amongst the individuals facing charges from the EFL.
The EFL’s statement was as follows:
Following the conclusion of an investigation into the acquisition of shares in Rochdale AFC by Morton House, the EFL has charged the Club and a number of other individuals with alleged breaches of EFL Regulations.
The EFL has been considering whether the Club, any Official, any Relevant Person(s) and/or any other Persons involved complied with the requirements of the Regulations in respect of the acquisition of shares in the Club in July 2021.
Having comprehensively reviewed the relevant issues, the EFL has now determined there is sufficient evidence to justify issuing various charges of Misconduct.
The multiple matters will now be referred to an Independent Disciplinary Commission and due to them being subject to ongoing proceedings, the EFL will not be making any further comment.
The Trust is currently crowdfunding for the legal defence against Morton House. You can donate to this appeal by visiting http://upthedalenotforsale.co.uk
