The Trust balloted their members at the start of November about whether to contribute towards the new 5-a-side pitch and the results are now in.
The club are looking at replacing the 5-a-side pitch at the back of the Pearl Street Stand. Anyone who has seen it recently will see that it is quite a state, and it is blatantly not fit for purpose. The plan is for the pitch to be replaced, brought up to 21st century standards with a top quality pitch and a netted roof and will be at the heart of much of the community work that the club does, allowing them to build on the excellent work that takes place.
The total cost is expected to be about £70,000 but the Football Foundation have agreed to contribute 60% of the funding with the Dale Trust looking to fundraise and contribute towards the remaining 40%. As a democratic organisation, the Trust needs to have members backing for any donations in excess of £2,000
The results were:
In favour of the Trust fundraising and contributing to the 5-a-side pitch: 164
Against the Trust fundraising and contributing to the 5-a-side pitch: 0
Spoiled ballot papers: 5
We are delighted that the Trust membership have given this such backing, and we are overwhelmed by the level of support from it with not one single vote against it.
So what happens now? Well this is where the members and Dale supporters come in. You can help out in the following ways:
- Straight donation. If you would like to make a donation to it, you can do so using this link, You don’t need a Paypal account to donate, you can still make a donation as a guest
- Easyfundraising. This is the one we keep calling free money. Since we first launched it, we have raised in excess of £3,000 and already we have had £177.92 raised towards the 5-a-side pitch. Christmas is coming and with most people choosing to order their presents online now, please use the Easyfundraising link. Every penny coming into the Trust through the Easyfundraising scheme this season will go directly to the 5-a-side pitch appeal.
- Attend Trust events. We have a number of events planned over the next few months to raise funds towards it, starting with a race night on 25th January. If you have a business and would like to sponsor one of the races, you can do so by visiting here. Further events being looked at include Curry Night, a Walk to Accrington and a Legends game.
